Training

My triathlon training plan commenced on the 7th January 2013 for 14 weeks. It was supposed to be 13 weeks but I cocked up the dates so I just bolted on another weeks training.  I googled a load of plans and after much thought I decided to use a plan that a triathlete had devised for his mother who was 59 years old and starting from scratch, so I thought well I should be ok on this plan then as I am much younger and fitter, well, so I thought.
In short the plan consisted of 2 swims, cycles and runs a week with a progressive increase in distance and intensity. I can supply the whole plan as I have recorded my times and distances for all to see on request.  Before this plan I had already commenced a running plan and had taken part in various runs along with my training pals Tony, Marc, Martin, Paul and Rob. Here is a list of times and events that I have competed in since my debut :

Although I made steady progression as shown above, these are not fast times. There are run at more like a fast jog. I am a ‘big unit’, that’s a kind way of say you are a big fat lad. So beware if you hear that term. When I started the training I was just under 17st..which now I’m pretty much ashamed of. However, with changes to the diet and the upcoming hours of training that I would be doing I knew I would be loosing ‘timber’. So much so that I’m now down to a healthier 15st 12, that’s around 97kilos. At over 6 feet tall its made a big difference and all my times have increased. My target goal is around 14-15stone where I think I feel much sharper and fitter.
